More disbelief from the Pool faithful, this time from Mustafa Ozalcin: "Having seen the line up I knew we wouldn't get a win from this game.. Still 45 mins to go but Rafa has tinkered and that is going to be our downfall (as usual!!!!)..."

The pre-match optimism from the Liverpool fans has turned somewhat sour. "Gerrard looks bored and fed up and who can blame him with two clowns Lucas and Mascerano in midfield. Mascerano doesnt go forwrad. Lucas cant pass and does nothing and has to be brought off. Benayoun is slow and weak. Liverpool seem to be negative and need to push more forward get on Keane and Babel for lucas and benayoun. PLAY HOW YOU WANT BUT BE MORE ATTACKING. Fergie must be laughing to himself. 33 Some of the fire has gone out of the game since Liverpool scored. They seem content to pass the ball around in their own half with Hyypia and Agger trading about ten passes in the space of a minute.

At this stage it's churlish to try to select a "tie of the round" due to the sheer strength of the teams involved, but there are three English teams meeting three Italian teams here in what will surely be huge matches right across the board. Villarreal-Panathinaikos could potentially provide a surprise semi-finalist, while Lyon-Barcelona could be especially intriguing if the French champions get a good first leg result.

The Italian champions thus can only meet Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, or Porto. Not long to go now!

90 Late chance for El Zhar as he meets a cross from the left with his head and then watches in agony as it goes a foot wide of Almunia's left post. There will be three added minutes.

72 Yellow card is produced for Carragher now as he pulls down van Persie on halfway after the Dutchman had spun away comfortably from him.

55 Riera forces a throw for Liverpool deep in the Arsenal half. The restart comes to nothing.

"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, Carousel.

In the musical, in the second act, Nettie Fowler, the cousin of the female protagonist Julie Jordan, sings "You'll Never Walk Alone" to comfort and encourage Julie when her husband, Billy Bigelow, the male lead, has killed himself after a failed robbery. It is reprised in the final scene to encourage a graduation class of which Louise (their daughter) is a member. Billy attends this ceremony during his return to earth and inspires them with his words of encouragement to assure them of his love.
Christine Johnson, who created the role of Nettie first introduced the song in the original Broadway production, and later Jan Clayton as Julie Jordan reprises it at the end with the chorus joining in. In the film it is sung by Claramae Turner as Nettie (although the weeping Shirley Jones (as Julie) first tries to sing it, but cannot), and later reprised by Ms. Jones and a chorus.

Because the song is included during the graduation finale of the musical, it has become a standard, sung by graduation classes in the United States.

The song is also sung at football clubs around the world, where it is performed by a massed chorus of supporters on matchday; this tradition began at Liverpool F.C. in the early 1960s and later spread to several other clubs.

Besides the recordings of the song on the Carousel cast albums and the film soundtrack, the song has been recorded by many artists as listed below, with notable hit versions made by Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Elvis Presley, Roy Hamilton, and Johnny Cash.
In England, the song's most successful performance was recorded in 1963 by the Liverpudlian Merseybeat group Gerry and the Pacemakers (peaking at number one in the singles chart for four consecutive weeks). It quickly became the anthem of Liverpool Football Club and is invariably sung by its supporters moments before the start of each home game. The words "You'll Never Walk Alone" also feature in the club crest and on the Shankly Gate entrance to the stadium.

According to former player Tommy Smith, Gerry Marsden presented Liverpool manager Bill Shankly with a recording of his upcoming cover single during a pre-season coach trip in the summer of 1963. "Shanks was in awe of what he [had] heard. [...] Football writers from the local newspapers were travelling with our party and, thirsty for a story of any kind between games, filed copy back to their editors to the effect that we had adopted Gerry Marsden's forthcoming single as the club song."

Marsden himself told BBC Radio how, in the nineteen-sixties, the deejay at Anfield would play the top-ten commercial records in ascending order, with the number one single transmitted last, shortly before kickoff. Supporters standing on the Spion Kop terrace would sing along, but once "You'll Never Walk Alone" dropped out of the top-ten, says Marsden, they continued to sing it. The song was later adopted by the Scottish teams Hibernian and Celtic[3] and Dutch teams Feyenoord and FC Twente.

A special recording of the song was made in solidarity with Bradford City following the Valley Parade fire in 1985, when 56 fans died and many more were injured. The song was performed by The Crowd (featuring Gerry Marsden, Paul McCartney and Rolf Harris).

In April 1989, a few days after the Hillsborough Disaster resulted in the deaths of 96 fans of Liverpool F.C., a European Cup semi-final between A.C. Milan and Real Madrid was played. The match official blew his whistle 6 minutes into the game to stop play (the game at Hillsborough stadium had been stopped at 3:06) and hold a minute's silence. Approximately 20 seconds into the silence, the Milan fans began to sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" as a tribute to those who died.

Some years later, after witnessing a rousing rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" at Anfield in 2007, the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee, Alejandro Blanco, said he felt inspired to seek lyrics to his country's wordless national anthem, the Royal March, ahead of Madrid's bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games.

24 GOAL GERRARD (1-2)!!! What a game we have here, I'm struggling to keep up. Kuyt breaks down the right and crosses low. Albert Riera distracts attention with a run to the near post allowing Liverpool's skipper to collect and prod in from six yards.

22 OWN GOAL CARRAGHER (0-2)!!! Mendy again leaves Dossena for dead and drills a low cross which Liverpool's star centre-back can only turn into his own goal while under the cross bar.

14 Liverpool almost hit back immediately as Andrea Dossena breaks down the left and squares across the six yard box but the pass evaded Kuyt and Yossi Benayoun. The Reds will need to use their comeback kings reputation this season again today.

12 GOAL Paul McShane (0-1)!!! After a shaky start, City are in front. King hangs a cross to the far post and loan signing McShane climbs above slack defending to head in at the far post.

8 A worry for Liverpool as Gerrard is down injured. The Reds captain is back on his feet after a nasty fall from an aerial challenge.

7 Great start to this game and there is a brilliant atmosphere as Liverpool win a corner. Xabi Alonso delivers but Jamie Carrgher is penalised for climbing on Ian Ashbee.

5 The Tigers break and win a corner. Brown's men want a penalty as they claim Javier Mascherano deflected Barmby's cross with a hand. It was not on purpose but I have seen them given. Michael Turner heads the resulting corner over.

4 City are struggling to get on the ball. However, Phil Brown's side do not appear to have come to Anfield to shut up shop. Barmby is playing in a support role to Marlon King rather than in a five-man midfield.

3 Ali feels that Keane should be playing because the Republic of Ireland international could build his confidence in a goal-fest. I'm no so sure it will be that easy today.

2 The Reds have started well and know their is great pressure not to follow 0-0 draws to Stoke, Fulham and West Ham at Anfield.

Liverpool Football Club (also known as the Liverpool or the Reds) is a club soccer participant Premier League. However, in the 90's era, the decline of Liverpool finally began to rise again in early to reach the Millennium with the treble in 2001 and the Champions League tropi to 5.

In the traditions, red and white is the color of the club. However, in berkembangannya changed into the red in the era 1960an. A disappointing first half from Liverpool, who despite dominating possession, haven't created too much apart from at set-pieces. West Ham have been almost non-existant as an attacking force but could have taken a shock lead thanks to Bellamy's stunning strike from 25 yards out.

Marseille were the better side for the majority of the game and had they possessed someone like Torres up front, they would surely have won the game given the chances they created. Liverpool were really poor but got the job done and that's the main thing.

14 Gerschwin Langeveldt has got his priorities right - he's "supposed to be studying for my Cima exams on Tuesday but following the the match commentary". As a Liverpool fan he's hoping "the boys do us proud".

13 Huddlestone clips what looks initially to be a lovely ball through to Campbell but it skips just a bit too far and though the frontman latches onto it he can't find a team-mate and Liverpool clear.

12 Lennon batters in a cross from the right but it's a terrible ball and sails straight out for a Liverpool throw. That needed a bit of subtlety from the winger.

11 Again, it's only a half-clearance from Liverpool and Tottenham work it back to O'Hara. Again he sends in the cross which Pavlyuchenko this time opts to head towards Campbell. Great defending from Hyypia, though, as he shepherds Campbell away from the ball. Spurs fans appeal for a penalty, but even their players aren't interested.

10 Much better ball in from O'Hara this time but Plessis redeems himself by climbing higher than Pavlyuchenko to clear.

9 O'Hara has a good crossing opportunity from the left but it's a poor ball and is easily dealt with. Liverpool only half-clear it, though, and when Campbell picks it up Plessis jumps into the tackle and is rightly booked.

8 Babel makes a brilliant run down the left and skips into the Tottenham box before slipping it to Torres. He just can't get it under control and is forced wide, eventually knocking it out of play. Looks like Raymond Delauney was right - Babel looking really lively here in the early stages.

7 Torres gets a flick to a long punt forward from Cavalieri but Ngog just can't latch onto it and it slips behind for a goal-kick.

6 Huddlestone clips the ball in behind for Campbell to race onto down the inside-right channel but Cavalieri is out quickly to gather.

5 Liverpool used Hyypia as an off-the-ball blocker there. Sadly for them it didn't work - and the fact Zokora went down holding his stomach on the edge of the box after being blatantly blocked off suggests Mike Riley will be onto it.

4 Bright start here - Liverpool have turned defence into attack in the blink of an eye, with Babel forcing a corner down the left.

35 GOAL KEANE. The former Spurs man breaks his league duck with a brilliant left-footed finish. Liverpool ran some great angles as Aurelio passed inside for Gerrard who then threaded the ball between West Brom's two central defenders and Keane was on the end of it all

33 The home support cheers loudly as Carson slices his kick out for a throw-in. Aurelio then finds space down the left. The Brazilian's delivery is disappointing as he over-hits his cross.

32 Gerrard combines well with Riera before the ball runs out for a throw-in. Albion hit the ball long for Bednar and the ref rules that the Czech has fouled Carragher.

31 Anfield is very quiet as Liverpool struggle to find a way through the Baggies' defence.

29 Liverpool scythe through the West Brom defence and Gerrard plays a lovely ball for Benayoun. The little midfielder shoots and Carson saves, but the ball rebounds onto Olsson's hand. Benayoun and co. are convinced it is a penalty. Not given by the ref.

28 Riera goes down as he is outmuscled by Zuiverloon from Reina's goal-kick. To his credit the winger gets on with things and does not appeal for a foul

Liverpool have snatched a late, late point here so it's as you were at the top of the group. Liverpool certainly merited at the very least a point from this one, but the manner of their equaliser was hugely controversial: having been denied a clear penalty earlier in the half, Liverpool were given a very dodgy one and Gerrard converted.
